Desire Mapping - Out of Your Head and Into Your Life

April 20, 2022 Charlene Lobo Soriano

Where We Going?

I came across the book The Desire Map at the suggestion of a friend who knew I amy very much in the world of interior work. Interior work, if you have to ask, is the investment of time and energy in understanding one’s motivations, issues, concerns, or worldviews. It can be pretty comprehensive, but the point is that it’s work.

Over three streams we did some deep diving into the Desire Map. Here’s some of the work we pondered for you to go invest in that interior work for yourself. Let’s start with the ‘buckets’. Pick one to center yourself on for the work (you can choose more than one, but let’s start off simple).

  1. Livelihood & Lifestyle: career, money, work, home, style, space, possessions, fashion, travel, gifts, sustainability, resources

  2. Body & Wellness: healing, fitness, food, rest & relaxation, mental health, sensuality, movement

  3. Creativity & Learning: artistic and self-expression, interests, education, hobbies

  4. Relationships & Society: romance, friendship, family, collaboration, community, causes

  5. Essence & Spirituality: soul, inner self, truth, intuition, faith, practices

Consider how you:

  • Experience abundance in the area

  • Experience how you know it’s not working for you

  • Frame this - how do you proceed in this space

What do I need to do to feel the way I want to feel? Ask yourself this as you explore your bucket - what do you want? What is your desire? Here is where the work gets out of your head and into the wild:

If I want to feel: [core desired feeling]  within the realm of [bucket] Then I want to do, experience, and have the following…

Naming what you want from a feeling standpoint in a particular bucket will help direct you to the things you need to do. This hopefully will make it easier to get things out of your head and into the reality you richly deserve. Check out the book here: The Desire Map (link is to affiliate shop)
