Divination

For some, tarot and oracle decks are foreign, spooky, or slightly scary. I have collected them for a while as a means to gain enlightenment or to reframe things, helping me to see things differently. The collection below is all of the decks I own in no particular order.

Every now and then I’ll bring my decks to a studio so folks can put their hands on them to see what they are all about, get answers to questions, or to connect with their intuition. Please support the creators of these amazing decks and buy directly from them if possible!

Rider-Waite Tarot Deck

I feel like this is everyone’s starter Tarot Deck. It’s pretty much available at every bookstore online and in real life. This was my first deck, and it goes first to pay tribute to where things all started.

Tina Gong’s LabyrinthosDecks

I selected her cards because not only are they beautiful, they’re wonderful tools for focusing and questioning. The apps that go along with the decks are gorgeous, and you can take your cards anywhere. If we’re counting, I have Arcana Iris Sacra Tarot Deck, Claves Astrologicae: Astrology Oracle Deck, Golden Thread Tarot Deck, Seventh Sphere Tarot de Marseille, Seventh Sphere Lenormand Deck, Map of the Universe of the Soul Altar Cloth. She recently released a Tarot book that I’m looking forward to digging into!

Chinggay Labrador’s Practical Magic Tarot Deck

One of my favorite deck creators is Chinggay Labrador from the Philippines. She’s been really kind to me in our interactions on social media and follow up emails about questions I had about her work. Shipping takes a while (I like to imagine it gliding over the Pacific Ocean to my home in SF), but it’s worth it! I have the #nofilter and Practical Magic decks. She created a beautiful Tarot Newbie Guide that is so CUTE.

Guada Tagalog’s Inklings Meditation Deck

Another creator from the Philippines drew this deck herself. It’s simple but really powerful. With only one word per card, it really helps you focus in on the message/lessons coming your way.

Pretty Spirits - Get Yo’ Truth Oracle Deck

This deck came to me as I was searching for black-owned businesses to support in the summer of 2020. This deck is simple and quite large - you will get the answers you seek, and then some.

This is a great deck for the desk - when something comes up, draw a card and all will be revealed.

Sacred Wild Soul’s The QUESTIONS Deck

You know, one of the things that I always hear when I offer to do a reading is “I don’t know what to ask!” This helps to answer the call. This amazing downloadable (after you buy it, natch) deck has great questions that you didn’t know you needed to ask. And no, “does he/she/they love me?” isn’t one of them.

Mary Elizabeth Evans’ Vessel Oracle Deck

You can’t go wrong with pink, and this candy pink deck had me from the moment I saw it. Beautiful line drawings are simple yet effective at drawing you into the messages in the cards. Mary Elizabeth’s decks are quite lovely and very unique - you won’t find anything like it at your local tarot card shop, and that’s why I love them so much.

Jana Lynne “JL” Umipig’s Kapwa Tarot

A gift from a friend is a beautiful thing. So when I received these from a sweet pea of a friend (Hi Janessa!), I was overwhelmed. These cards are designed with Pilipino-inspired “symbology and ancestral teachings”. How special is that? Seeing yourself in the art and the stories is powerful and meaningful, so shout out to JL and the creators out there bringing our stories to light.

Cris-Anne’s Sacred Creator Oracle Deck

I’m always intrigued when it comes to decks created for a particular angle, and this is about creating and being an ‘soul’trepreneur. This is great for looking at creation and supporting your creative self with an entrepreneur’s mindset. Beautiful and easy to work with, the book that comes with is is MASSIVE but a treasure trove.

I’m listing the rest of the decks here for no particular reason other than there are so many, and I really wanted to feature the ones above. The rest are available widely from online retailers.

Rebel Deck: SPICY.

Blue Bird Lenormand: A small deck with a completely different system of tarot card reading.

Spirit Animal Oracle: Beautiful looking cards, I’ll be honest.

Goddess Tarot: Standard tarot deck, but cards feel a little too big for my hands.

Goddess Inspiration Oracle Cards: One of my fave decks - well worn and great representation of goddesses from different traditions.

What’s Worth Doing: This deck was something I backed by a colleague. I haven’t had time to play with it, but honestly, any deck is worth using from a divination standpoint if it gives you options to consider and you use your intuition to fill in the blanks.

Hello Kitty Tarot Deck: This wasn’t the original seller where I purchased this but I have this deck because it’s just cute, you know?
